Free website traffic is everyone’s dream as an online affiliate marketer. And it’s possible and a smart idea. But it takes some work, it takes time, but its value is attributable to your ability to write content and share socially with people.
What is free traffic? Free traffic happens when people search for a subject, how to solve a problem, or in need of information on a product. These are just a few ideas, of course, you know why people search, your someone who searches. Once people search, the subject of that search comes up in the results. People click on it, and for free you get traffic. Another way is through social media where people find a link they find interesting and click on it to get to your site.
You can pay for web traffic, but for this article, we’re going to cover a few fundamental strategies for gaining free traffic.
First Page on Google and Bing
To achieve great results in free traffic, it’s vital you do the work to rank on the first page of either Google or Bing.
The first page of any search engine is critical. The majority of people only look at the first page of any search result. That statement may be a horrible generalization, but how often do you click on next? What percent of the time do you look at the 5th page of a search?
To do that, you need to do a few things to get free traffic.
Find the right keywords that you can rank fast to get to the first page. We recommend Jaaxy. Search below on a subject, see what you find. When you have a moment, here are two articles you must read: Free Keywords Search and How to Find My Niche.
For keywords, write quality content aligned to those keywords. People read quality to make good decisions. Google and Bing are getting better and better at determining quality over crap. As technology and science continue to evolve, the web pages with quality content will continue to rank higher and higher. Keep that in mind as you develop content.
Social Media
Our world continues to get more and more connected, and it’s not going to slow down. Social media companies and people’s preferences on what social technology to use Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or any of those choices continue to ebb and flow with a generation.
Our job as affiliate marketers is to keep up when possible. As far as driving free traffic, engaging on the social plane attracts visitors to your website. Besides, having social media value helps rank up your posts and website to that coveted first page rank on Google and Bing. You bet, they count social engagement in their algorithms.
Our suggestion, after you write content, make sure to share on all your social outlets. But don’t just share blindly, be thoughtful and write compelling information. Tagging your article to other compelling interests helps people find you and connect with your content.
The result: Free Traffic.

Content, Content, Content …
Let’s face it, writing content, content, content, …. (yes there is an echo) drives traffic. A website that has 100 posts where the posts are coming 2, 3+ a week is active. That helps rank up faster within any search engine. A website that you post once a month won’t get free traffic. Unless you have such a vast social media following, people link through everytime you post.
We’ll give you an important lesson that we’ve learned. When you are starting out, don’t worry about fancy websites. Just write, write, write, and write. The more you write in the first three months, the more opportunity you have needed to make your website pretty.
We know how hard it is to want to make your website work fantastic at the beginning but as any entrepreneur knows, customers and revenue drive decisions. Get people there and respond once you have growing traffic. Make the problem about creating the perfect website.
Conclusion
We all want to get website traffic free. And it’s possible. But free only means you don’t want to spend money. But you have to invest time and your energy. If you love what you do, it’s easy. If you don’t, well that’s something completely different.
Here are the four techniques we shared:
- First Page on Google and Bing
- Social Media
- Join a Community
- Content, Content, Content …
We would love for you to share some of your favorite techniques. Just comment below, we respond. And if you have any questions, please ask.

It’s such a great community. Glad you’re enjoying the training.
Thank you JB. So this Jaaxy sounds like a fantastic program. This is something I’ll definitely have to look into. I’ll also be having a look at The Wealthy Affiliate platform. You state that it’s free to join. What do you actually get for free? Thanks Jim
Both programs are well worth the investigation. Good question about Wealthy Affiliate. In the review we wrote, take a look at the chart the shows the free features. What I like about the free program, it allows you to investigate without any commitment.

Good Luck!
Organic and social traffic is a great way to get new visitors to your site. In my opinion organic search can take to long before you get any traction. Social can work quickly with the right content and the right social strategy. For new sites with no audience I really like to use a little bit of a budget to get the ball rolling sooner.
That way you can also see if the site/niche is viable before you spend too much time on it only to figure out it will not work. ‘Cause as you say, free is only that you don’t spend money on it, but it is time consuming and to me time is more valuable than money.
It’s always great to budget time, but I do like having a little money to speed up the process as well.
Hello JB,
The world of online business is growing at an exponential rate and shows no signs of slowing down. If you consider your own time as free then I would agree with you as to produce content worthy of being ranked on Google or Bing on the first page requires effort, energy and time.
I liked how you break the process down in a way that the average joe can understand. I am still focused on generating content so I still have a long way to go to achieving a first page listing.

Focused content! That’s what keeps winning.
Excellent excellent post. It’s so good that I bookmarked this page before I finished reading. Your use of nice imgery and ads really added visually for me. I viewed this post as a user and it’s interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever looked past page 2 when doing a serach. I didn’t have time currently but since I’ve bookmarked your post I’m going to go back and read your Wealthy Affiliate Review as well. I’ve never considered myself to be a good writer, however, I’m like a sponge and that is why I read as many posts as I can to get a feel for the flow of legitimate content here at WA. Well done!
Thanks Calvin! Glad it was helpful.
This post is so solid! Thank you for the helpful tips and the dial in to gaining more traffic. Your efforts and investment are hugely appreciated JB and I am sharing this on FB so more people can gain! Keep up the solid work my friend!
Kindest regards and many thanks!
